Baking with Blackberries

Since we are getting a new kitchen this summer I am trying to bake down all of the contents in our cabinets. Here is a lovely blackberry cake from this month's Bon Appetit. It looks yummy, but it seems that I can not center it on the plate. Will try better next time....

Par-tay with my parents..

I have learned three things from this picture. 1. my mom ruined my dress when she shortened the straps. Notice where the boob seems are and see where my ladies are located. 2. My dad can not take a picture to save his life. Both my mother and I look horrible. 3. drinking and driving? a bad idea. Drinking while some one else is driving? Kinda fun. So my mom and i got roadies for the ride home.

Mucking the pond

Under the heading of thing I would never do in NYC, today I got the pleasure of mucking out the pond. It is really a puddle that my mother has delusions of grandeur about. Seriously, it is about two feet wide and two feet deep. Pond my ass. However, while cleaning it out, I am glad my mother did not opt for a larger model. Thank god the internet does not yet have a scratch and sniff capability. I can describe the bouquet as Staten Island on a hot day.
