Jive Turkeys

Today I came across TWO new groups of friends: wild turkeys. They live in my area, in fact East Granby was once called Turkey Hills. One group was camera shy, and the other posed well for me. I have never seen a flock as big as the second one. There are five turkeys in the second picture and two in the first.

Pillowtalk

Now that Stan and I are home, we have to help my mom in her sweatshop, I mean work shop. We have been churning out bags, pillowcases and jammie pants for people. I iron and turn things out, my mom sews and Stanley keeps things from blowing away. You might think I look a little crazy, but it was the middle of the night on the assembly line. Stan looks great as always. Please note the large bottle of my mom's medicine in the Stan picture. Yup, she takes her pain meds for her knee and then makes Stan and me work for hours.

Feeding the Iron Horse

Today I pumped gas for the first time. It was exciting. My mom had to help me get the damn credit card in and then show my how to work the nozzle thing. I think I will go to full service for now on. Check out my new fancy summer scarf!

The Whippie-dip

Ah, Connecticut's answer to tasti, Dairy Cream, or as my family calls it, the Whippie-dip! I can only guess that my mom is not thrilled with some of the pictures I have posted about her, and thus has taken several of my tushie. I can not blame her. Also apparently, when I order I jam my head way into the window. I guess I do not care about personal space when it comes to ice cream.

Driving School

Here I am for my first day of driving school. It was four hours long, and frankly four hours of my life I can not get back. Sadly, I have another four hours. Then it is the written test and the road test. My instructor seemed to be drunk with quotes like "New Jersey drivers are the worst!" or "Drink with you parents." "Drinking makes your friends do stupid things they can not remember the next day. Does any one here know someone like that?" I raised my hand and almost told him about the stoop. Now that I am in my 30's they can not scare me about underaged drinking any more.

Not rain, nor sleet, nor boredom.....

Here is a shot of the mail hub in East Granby. Four trucks. Four. The whole fleet. Four.

And it looks like only one is used, it is parked off center.

Play It Again Sam....

There is also a life sized plastic mannequin of Humphrey Bogart. I have no idea why. It freaks me out.

Where Everyone knows my mother's name......

Today I helped my mother and her friend Mrs. Brown decorate her daughter's restaurant. Technically it is called The Cracker Barrel, but we call it the Crack. My oldest niece wanted to know why it was not in the shape of a huge butt. I think she has a good point. My mom loves it here and here are a few shots of her at the bar enjoying something pink.

teaching my mom to arch like there is no tomorrow!

I tried to teach my mom my patented pose for all pictures. She tried hard, but it was rough with the cane!

Garden Tour

So, if you have a ton of time and a lot of money in the country, you get into gardening. We toured this home this past weekend. Check out the moss dragon, the flowers and the crazy taxidermied (sp?) animals.

Home again.....

Well people, I am back in East Granby. Am I sad? Yes. Crying? Yes. Lonely? Yes. Cursing god and nature? You bet. Clearly my mom has other ideas about my coming home. Check it out! She seems to be excited that she can now wear all of my stuff. At once.
