Cardimon Chocolate Cookies

Sometimes, I am posing for my pictures and I have a great idea.  Then my mom gets cranky and does not want to redo them.  These should be called Cardamon in a Cardigan.   And I should be wearing a cardigan sweater.  Damn it people, this is not how Rachel Zoe does it.  Anyway, here are my newest baking experiment courtesy of June's Bon Appetite.  Coffee ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate chunk cookies with.. you guessed it, Cardamon.  They are crazy yummy, and since they have almond flour, the cookies are soft.  Thus ice cream does not shoot out the sides and you push down to eat them.  Delish and fairly easy.

Pretend it is a cardigan people.  And we shot this to show off the one wall of new cabinets.

Slightly out of focus with yummyness.

Orange Item of the Week

This week my mother has me slaving away moving her office at work.  Sadly, since it will not work for her job, I know I will be moving it again in September.  Ahh, the joys of bureaucracy.  So, the orange item of the week is a comforting apricot (yes, it is orange) cake that I made to sooth Joann's nerves.

See the band of apricot?   It's there!

If you squint, it looks like oranges.

Orange Item of the Week

It is insanely hot outside.  Fitting since it is the Summer Solstice, so I thought it would be fun to have a summer related orange item.... orange sunnies.    My mother was tickling me so I would smile, and i have no clue why I look so tan.

Cute for the week

We got Olivia groomed this week!  She has her first lion cut--short body and long head hair.  She loves it and seems to have more energy.  And she is freaking tiny, I feel bad about all of the times I called  her Large Marge.  Plus the long hair on her head looks like Darth Vader's helmet, so I call her Vader.   Here is some cuteness!  I hope it brightens up your day just a bit!

Livi has her bride mouse toy.

Orange Item of the Week

I am a little late this week with my orange item.  It has been insane here!  My mom is making me help her at school-- she is moving offices.  And the kitchen finally got done (well, phase one.)  So no matter where I am, I am schlepping my mom's stuff.  I really wish she were not a pack rat...  So here is our new fancy oven and our old cabinets (new cabinets are phase 2).  I am wearing my new ORANGE striped shirt.  Some might argue it is more of a red hue, but nope, the gap says it is orange and I believe them.  If you are thinking I look exhausted, you would be correct.

Pond Mucking time

Grossest chore ever.  Getting rid of all the dead leaves in our pond.  It smells and does not better as time goes on.  Ew, thank god it is once a year.

Orange Item of the Week

This week, it is my orange skirt.  For reasons unknown I am showing off my fancy cankle (the ankle I broke and is always swollen.  Gotta learn to pop the other leg.)  This skirt was one of my wisest purchases ever.  It was on sale from the gap, AND is reversible.  That is right people, the other side is hot pink.  I have had it for years waiting for the day when orange came back and I could wear that side. My shirt and shoes are both from Target, the Jason Wu and Calypso collections respectively.  The crap in the background is everything from our kitchen that is now in the living room.

Reverse Heidi

Reverse Heidi from the front
I have been in a hair rut for the past ten years or so.  I always wear it in some sort of pony, so I have been trying new things.  I can't wear it down since it is hot and humid, so new updo's it is.  Here is the Reverse Heidi.  I like it when my hair sounds like some sort of gymnastic move (Here is Nadia about to attempt the Reverse Heidi in competition.  Her coach sounded confident earlier....you get the point.)  It is two braids, but instead of going on top of my head, swiss miss style, the cross each other and go up the sides.  Your hair can be shorter, and it is easier to wear that the traditional Heidi.  Exciting stuff I tell you!  It is humid today, so ignore the crazy frizz, it can happen to anyone.  Really.

Frizzy back...

New Friends

We finally got our new fridge yesterday. Since the old one never kept anything cold and was thumping, it really was time.  Not only is our new fridge exciting... it got delivered by a really cute guy :)  I have ever seen a cute delivery person until I have been forced to have an extended visit to Connecticut.  While I could not get a picture of the guy, here is my mom climbing in.  She now makes trips to the fridge just to see it.  As for the rest of the kitchen, no oven yet, but we do have a ceiling that is painted and everything.  Fancy.
