First Batch of the Season

My nieces are coming for Thanksgiving next week, so my mother has a vision of the four of us in matching aprons making Christmas cookies. (She reads too many magazines and now thinks in terms of holiday pictorials.) It was my job to do the test driving. I get the feeling this is not what she had in mind.

It all started out so normally....

Make dough, cut out cookies and bake... they seemed to be right, pale but a little brown around the edges.

Then decorate. OY! First off the frosting was self leveling, so it was falling off this sides of the cookies. And since I do not have the right requirement: paintbrushes, pastry bags, tips... it was hard to get the right amount of frosting on each cookie. It was getting messier and messier...

Then came the snowmen, I think we can all agree this is where things took an odd turn. The gel ran, it looks like my Snowmen have ghost eyes and bad botox.

Seeing there was no way to save my work, I made Lady GaGa Gingerladies. Here she is with her sleigh. You'll note she is wearing the McQueen outfit she wore to the VMA's.

And what Christmas would be complete without Gay Rudolf? He sports a red earring, black heels and orange sparkle spots. I also put some glitter in his fur, because, hey that is what Gay Rudolf would do. I am sure he is off to see the Lady GaGa ginger lady, who would never make a fan pull her sleigh.

I can safely say, these are not the cookies for my nieces to make.
