Cocktail of the week
I had to not drink at all this week. So sad, I know. I am having a bad reaction to antibiotics and sleeping like 18 hours a day. But, I promise to be up and ready in full form by the end of this week. I also did a lot of baking last week (I finally had time.) so, I promise to get those up too!

cocktail of the week--the French 75
It has been a seriously long week. After holidays, several snow days and more holidays, this was our first full week back at school. The five day work week? Totally over rated... An extra day of getting up, another work outfit, more lunches to pack. And this week the 7th grade started to sing in music class. Yeah. The good news is that this job is winding down and I should have some time off to bake soon.
The French 75 has Meyer lemon juice (good for fighting germs) and Champagne, bubbles are always a good idea.
1shot gin
3/4 shot Meyer lemon juice
1/2 shot simple syrup
Shake that up... Pour and add a nice layer of champs.

Pound cake
I found this recipe while bored looking though the website for Bon Appetit I took one look at the apricots and thought they looked like the sun. The pound cake is amazing, buttery and moist. I added a little extra cardamom, and it was fantastic.
Cocktail of the week... The L train
This one comes from the book Shake. I have been stuck inside because of the snow. Stuck inside with my parents. Stuck. Here is the L Train. I actually had dried lavender in my pantry. Seriously. I would describe this cocktail as light and springy, enough to keep hope alive in the heart of the most winter weary person.
In a shaker, add
2 shots gin
1/2 shot fresh lemon juice
1 shot St. Germaine
Dried lavender
Seltzer
Add all ingredients but the seltzer in a shaker and give a nice 10 second shake with ice. Pour into coups (mine are fancy antique ones) and top with seltzer.

Something is fishy.....
I was forced to feed fish in my 7th grade science class today. The dark things are the fish and the white tube is to provide oxygen to them. It smells awful and one touched my hand. There may have to be two cocktails of the week for this one....

cocktail of the Week: A Mid-Winter Marg
Snow. More snow. I needed a hit of summer, memories from when it was not so cold and I could actually feel my extremities. Winter citrus is a such a life saver, so here is a glass of sunshine and promise. I served this with goldfish, a nod to Sikes Happy Hour (Jen serves wine and goldfish) and something somewhat summer.
Makes two drinks:
3 shots tequila
1 1/2 shot Cointreau
1 1/2 shot fresh lime juice
1 1/2 shot fresh grapefruit juice
2 slices of fresh lime to garnish (I did not do that.).
Here is a shot that I got of the Marg, but also Olivia's paws :)
